Poems revealed in the silence

Refractions

Integrity is a very big word.
It has a range of meanings—
from being honest and moral
to being whole and undivided:
they are not so different.

Integrity is a key element
in the unfolding of the ‘path’.
It is an expression of alignment,
of clear intent,
of maintaining focus
in the face of temptation
and distraction.
It appears to be a choice.

Yet there comes a point
when integrity is who you are—
your natural face to the world.
Discovering the wholeness of reality
as your own true self
is when you begin to integrate
all the elements
of your lived experience
under one umbrella.

The living recognition
of the space in which everything arises
as both the ground of your being
and the field connecting
all your disparate parts
softens any sense
of clashing priorities.
You are drawn
into a centre
with its own teleological direction—
not a destination,
but a felt pull—
and you become
fused with that,
and excited by that.
In sensing the interconnection of all things
you naturally feel a responsibility and care
for the repercussions of everything you do.

This isn’t forced.
It feels utterly natural.
In fact, to resist—
to hold back
to keep something for yourself—
is painful, uncomfortable,
a blockage
in the flow that wants to emerge.

This takes focus, sensitivity,
and radical humility—
not to claim or grasp it
as identity.
For then integrity is lost.

Integrity is one word
for Being Available—
in the fullness
of what that truly means.
