I never imagined that one day I would pick up the pen and start writing.
After an awakening experience—and spending time in a group where the living, shared field became the ground of being for each of us and for the group itself—I found myself almost compelled to write.
At first, these ‘meditations’ arose on my morning cushion. The words arrived spontaneously, each piece forming around a theme that emerged as the writing flowed. They came from a place of not-knowing, from curiosity, wonder and presence. Each one reflected an aspect of living from the mystery at the heart of each of us, refracted through the realities of embodied existence. I began posting them on my first blog, Facets of the Diamond.
Since then, the work has continued to evolve—almost daily. Out of my experiences within the shared field of being, a book has emerged, The Space Between Us, telling the story of that unfolding and offering an invitation into shared presence. InThe Heart of the Diamond, I offer a series of longer contemplative essays exploring different aspects of what it means to be fully human.
About
What began as solitary reflection has become a more interactive field of exploration—writing for other media, engaging in dialogue and debate with other passionate souls, and participating in collective inquiry. Together with Anne Sweet we are developing an online community dedicated to collective awakening—called Between-Us Groups these are spaces for authentic connection, mutual discovery, and transformation within a shared field of awareness. These gatherings complement my ongoing writing and emerging podcast conversations, extending the inquiry from the page into living relationship.
I still don’t claim to know anything. Writing and dialogue leave me emptied out again and again—ready to receive.
And although these writings are shared to offer whatever insight has come through, each piece is also a contract of obligation—a gift from the inner voice. Writing them down and sharing them is, for me, a commitment to live what they point to.
In many ways, two poems—
and
—have become my quiet manifesto. They speak for the thread that runs through everything here: the wish to meet in truth, beyond roles, dogma, or decree. To point, not to persuade; to invite, not to instruct.
